Asymmetrical shell stitches in a compact pattern; also pretty when worked in two or more colors.

Multiple of 3 chain plus 1

Row 1: skip 2 chain, 2 double crochet in next chain, *(1 single crochet, 2 double crochet) in next chain, skip 2 chain*, 1 single crochet, chain 2, turn

Row 2: 2 double crochet in 1st single crochet, *(1 single crochet, 2 double crochet) in each single crochet of previous row*, 1 single crochet in turning chain, chain 2, turn

Repeat from Row 2
