Open Ridge Stitch

Open Ridge Stitch


A firm and heavy, yet airy pattern; especially suitable for a placemat or handbag.

 You can check out my video tutorial to see how to do this pattern stitch.



Multiple of 2 chain plus 1

Row 1: skip (sk) 1 chain (ch), * 1 single crochet (sc) in each chain*, repeat from * to end of row, chain (ch) 1, turn.

Row 2: 1 half double crochet (hdc), * skip 1 stitch, 1 half double crochet  (hdc) in next stitch, 1 half double crochet (hdc) between 2 proceeding half double crochet*, skip 1 stitch, 1 half double crochet (hdc) in chain at beginning of row, chain 1, turn.

Row 3: * 1 single crochet (sc), inserting hook through front loop of each stitch in previous row*, repeat from * to end of row, chain (ch) 1, turn.

Repeat from Row 2.
